Hello!
Wow, I'm so excited to be back after a long hiatus (3 years to be exact) since I've sent a newsletter!
You might be wondering, "Why this sudden newsletter?"
I've got news!!
A few days ago I officially took the leap to become a travel + lifestyle content creator full-time! Beforehand, I was working on my marketing consulting business and working with tech companies while sustaining the blog on the side.
In mid-July, all of the stars aligned and my last client had to get rid of all of their contractors. For me, it felt like the perfect time to jump off the deep end and actually give this thing a go. I'm so freaking excited to begin working on my blog and social full-time as it's been my passion for the past 8 years!
I know some of you have been subscribed to my emails since the early days, so you may have completely forgotten who I am. LOL! Here are my socials in case you want to check me out and what I'm about.
You can also check out my blog, The Traveling Spud, via this button.

In the upcoming newsletters, I'll be sharing my latest travel adventures, unique accommodations, travel recommendations, personal favorite products, packing favorites, valuable travel tips, essential links, and much more. Your presence here is greatly appreciated, and I'm excited to have you along for this journey!
At the end of September, my husband Jack and I are going to "move" to New York City!
For those of you new here, Jack and I currently reside in Boise, Idaho. We will still live in Boise full-time, but are experimenting with living in NYC for 1 month!
In NYC, we'll be living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and I'm obsessed with this neighborhood! I've had a few friends live there and have explored it quite a bit, so I can't wait! We both work remotely so are going to move into an Airbnb to enjoy fall in the city.
You may be wondering why we are doing this. And no, we aren't planning on moving there full-time or anything. A lot of people have asked me this—although part of me wishes we were lol. The real reason is that both of us have always wanted to live in NYC and neither of us ever got the opportunity. So, we thought we'd do a little digital nomad vibe in NYC...why not? We don't have kids or pets and aren't tied down by our jobs so we thought it was now or never!
If you want to follow along in real-time, be sure to follow my Instagram and Tiktok pages! I'll be documenting as much of the experience as possible over there!
Our big summer trip this year was a 9-day Northern Idaho road trip. It was such a blast! After living in Boise for almost 6 years, I haven't been to North Idaho in so long so we went to a bunch of new-to-me spots!
We did Moscow (where I went to college), Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint, Bonner's Ferry, and Wallace. I've been recapping our road trip over on Tiktok and Instagram highlights if you're interested in seeing more! Stay tuned for more content coming out soon.
I wanted to share some of the things I'm loving right now!
Thanks for being here!
Best,
Katie
Happy Thanksgiving weekend! It's been a whirlwind few months, and I haven't gotten around to a newsletter, but wanted to send one with some of my favorite things below so you don't miss this Black Friday! Jack and I are officially home from spending 37 New York City!! We had a blast and went to 7 Broadway shows, a Jets game (T-Swift was there), Stephen Colbert, Comedy Cellar, endless food, and great drinks. I also got to go to a live Peloton class, which was a highlight for me! After NYC, I...
Hello and happy beginning of September, aka the unofficial beginning of fall! ;) I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend and a nice last bit of August! August was absolutely insane for me! I spent all of it in Idaho, having so much fun running around Boise and McCall. If you happen to need some ideas of things to do in and around Boise or McCall in the next few months, check out this reel and this reel. Because Jack and I are heading to NYC at the end of September, we decided to...
